EdgeTX H7 Update Advisory
Newer STM32H7-based EdgeTX radios such as the Radiomaster TX16S MK3 and TX15 may ship with early firmware builds from the factory. This has caused confusion for some users during setup and troubleshooting. This notice helps clarify the currently recommended firmware path and the correct update method for H7 radios.
For H7 radios, EdgeTX 2.12.0 is now the current stable release. Users should follow the official STM32H7 update instructions because H7 radios update differently than older F2 and F4-based radios.
Affected Radios
- Radiomaster TX16S MK3
- Radiomaster TX15
- Other STM32H7-based EdgeTX radios
Recommended Firmware Version
EdgeTX 2.12.0 is now the current stable release for supported radios, including newer H7-based handsets such as the TX15 and TX16S MK3.
EdgeTX 2.12.0
This replaces the earlier recommendation to use 2.12.0-rc4. Now that 2.12.0 has been officially released, that is the version users should run unless they have a radio-specific reason to stay on an older release.
Important H7 Update Notes
STM32H7 radios update differently than older EdgeTX radios.
According to the official EdgeTX manual, H7 radios can currently be updated in two supported ways:
- Bootloader + UF2 file copy
- EdgeTX Companion v2.12 or later
https://manual.edgetx.org/installing-and-updating-edgetx/updating-your-stm32h7-radio
These instructions apply to radios such as the TX16S MK3, TX15, Jumper T15 Pro, and some other STM32H7-based radios.
Best Practices Before Updating
- Back up your radio settings
- Back up your model files
- Use the matching EdgeTX 2.12 SD card pack for your firmware version
- Bench test all models after updating before flying
As with any firmware update, backups and post-update bench testing are strongly recommended.
Additional Notes
- STM32F2 radios are not supported by EdgeTX 2.12. EdgeTX 2.11 is the last supported release series for those radios.
- Wireless trainer limitation: if using MPM wireless trainer with CRSF / ELRS, keep the trainer rate at 250Hz or lower to avoid trainer dropouts.
Bottom Line
If your TX16S MK3, TX15, or another H7-based EdgeTX radio shipped with an early or non-final factory build, the current recommended path is to update to the official stable release:
Update to EdgeTX 2.12.0, follow the official STM32H7 update instructions, and fully bench test your models before flight.
Thanks to the EdgeTX team for continuing to improve support for newer H7-based radios.
