Egodrift Scale Collection 4230EC Eclipse Motor

Choose a motor developed for the demands of scale helicopter flying. The Egodrift Scale Collection 4230EC Eclipse is designed for 700–800 class scale projects, including Roban helicopters built around HSM-800 mechanics.

Built around Egodrift’s custom 42 mm stator, the 4230EC Eclipse emphasizes smooth power delivery and efficient operation. Egodrift identifies reduced operating temperatures as a key benefit for scale builds, where an enclosed fuselage can restrict cooling airflow.

Choose Your Motor Kv

  • 425Kv — EGO-11963: The lowest-speed winding offered on this listing. Consider it when your battery voltage, gearing, and target rotor speed call for a lower-Kv motor.
  • 465Kv — EGO-11959: Our starting choice when selecting between the two windings on our current order for a lower-head-speed scale application. Confirm the result against your mechanics and gearing.
  • 520Kv — EGO-11960: Provides approximately 11.8% more theoretical motor speed than 465Kv at the same voltage. Consider this winding when your gearing or intended rotor speed requires additional motor-speed range.

Select the winding from your actual gear ratio and target head speed. Fuselage size alone does not determine the correct Kv.

Roban HSM-800 & Scale Applications

Egodrift specifically identifies the Scale Collection 4230EC Eclipse for Roban HSM-800 mechanics. Its four-M4 mounting pattern on a 30 mm bolt circle accommodates the mechanics’ tripod bearing support, while the reduced motor-body width helps provide installation clearance.

Confirm the gear ratio, required shaft engagement, motor clearance, battery configuration, and rotor-speed requirements of your exact build. Different scale projects can require substantially different operating speeds.

ESC Selection & Cooling

Egodrift generally recommends a 130–135A ESC or higher for this motor family, with the final selection depending on voltage and application. Choose an ESC rated for your battery cell count and expected load.

Provide suitable airflow through the fuselage and verify motor, ESC, and battery temperatures during setup flights.

Motor & Gearing Setup Support

Use Egodrift’s Headspeed Calculator to compare motor Kv, battery cell count, gear ratio, and ESC output before choosing a winding.

Egodrift recommends calculating at 3.8V per cell and aiming for approximately 80% ESC output as a starting point for governor headroom. Calculated speeds are estimates; actual results depend on the battery, governor, drivetrain, and rotor load.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this motor intended for Roban HSM-800 mechanics?
Yes. Egodrift specifically identifies HSM-800 scale applications. Check the winding, shaft engagement, and gearing for your particular installation.

Should I choose 465Kv or 520Kv?
Choose according to battery voltage, gearing, and target rotor speed. At the same voltage and gear ratio, 520Kv produces approximately 11.8% more theoretical motor speed than 465Kv.

Does a lower-Kv winding automatically give longer flight time?
No. Flight time depends on the complete setup, including gearing, rotor speed, blade loading, aircraft weight, and battery capacity.
