Egodrift Tengu 4030EC Eclipse Helicopter Motor

Match your motor to your helicopter, gearing, and flying style. The Egodrift Tengu 4030EC Eclipse is targeted at 550–580 class RC helicopters, with four winding options for builders choosing between 6S, 8S, and 12S power systems.

Built around Egodrift’s custom 40 mm stator, the 4030EC Eclipse features tailored arc magnets and a redesigned motor platform. Below, you’ll find our 6S gearing recommendations for the Goosky RS5 Ultra and XLPower Nimbus 550 V2, plus guidance on alternative battery configurations.

Choose Your Motor Winding

  • 1050Kv — EGO-11967 — 6S: Our preferred starting choice when a larger available pinion achieves your target head speed. Recommended combinations include the RS5 Ultra with 14T near 2,300 RPM and Nimbus 550 V2 with 13T near 2,350 RPM.
  • 1150Kv — EGO-11969 — 6S: Approximately 9.5% more theoretical motor speed than 1050Kv at the same voltage. Choose it when retaining a smaller pinion or seeking additional head-speed range.
  • 800Kv — EGO-11968 — 8S: An alternative for advanced builders configuring a 550–580 class helicopter around an 8S power system.
  • 560Kv — EGO-11970 — 12S: An alternative for advanced builders choosing a 12S power system in a suitably geared 550–580 class helicopter.

Goosky RS5 Ultra — Recommended 6S Setups

The RS5 Ultra uses a 116T main gear and a standard 13T motor pinion. Its greater reduction compared with the original RS5 makes motor and pinion selection particularly important.

1050Kv Pinion Options

  • 12T — GT220040 — approximately 1,980 RPM: Lower-head-speed gearing for targets around 1,900–2,000 RPM.
  • 13T — GT220063 — approximately 2,150 RPM: A moderate-head-speed combination using the stock pinion.
  • 14T — GT220076 — approximately 2,310 RPM: Our preferred setup near 2,300 RPM. Combines the lower-Kv winding with the larger pinion for greater main-gear engagement than the similar-speed 1150Kv/13T combination.

1150Kv Pinion Options

  • 12T — GT220040 — approximately 2,170 RPM: A lower-geared option when using the 1150Kv winding.
  • 13T — GT220063 — approximately 2,350 RPM: An alternative near 2,300 RPM that retains the stock pinion. For a new build at this target, we favor 1050Kv with 14T.
  • 14T — GT220076 — approximately 2,530 RPM: Our highest-head-speed RS5 Ultra combination shown here. Intended for advanced pilots planning demanding high-RPM 3D flying, subject to blade and airframe operating limits.

RS5 Ultra pinion part numbers: optional 12T — GT220040; standard 13T — GT220063; optional 14T — GT220076. Pinions are sold separately from the motor.

These figures apply to the RS5 Ultra’s 116T main gear. The original RS5 uses different gearing.

XLPower Nimbus 550 V2 — Recommended 6S Setups

The Nimbus 550 V2 uses a 106T main gear and includes an 11T motor pinion. Optional 12T and 13T pinions provide additional gearing choices.

1050Kv Pinion Options

  • 11T — XL52G11 — approximately 1,990 RPM: A starting point near 2,000 RPM using the included pinion.
  • 12T — XL52G12-1 — approximately 2,170 RPM: Our suggested combination for targets around 2,100–2,150 RPM.
  • 13T — XL52G13-1 — approximately 2,350 RPM: Our preferred larger-pinion combination for targets around 2,300 RPM, producing a similar calculated speed to 1150Kv/12T.

1150Kv Pinion Options

  • 11T — XL52G11 — approximately 2,180 RPM: Additional head-speed range while retaining the included pinion.
  • 12T — XL52G12-1 — approximately 2,370 RPM: An alternative for targets around 2,300 RPM.
  • 13T — XL52G13-1 — approximately 2,570 RPM: The highest calculated Nimbus head speed shown here. Consider only where the helicopter, blades, and complete power system support the intended operating speed.

Nimbus 550 V2 pinion part numbers: included 11T — XL52G11; optional 12T — XL52G12-1; optional 13T — XL52G13-1. Optional pinions are sold separately.

Battery Voltage & Motor Selection

The Tengu 4030EC Eclipse is targeted at 550–580 class helicopters. For most 550 class builds, our recommended starting point is 6S with the 1050Kv or 1150Kv winding.

Advanced builders can also use 800Kv on 8S or 560Kv on 12S in a suitably configured 550–580 class helicopter. These alternative power systems require appropriate gearing, battery fitment, and a compatible ESC.

General Helicopter Power-System Guide

  • 550 class: 6S is our usual starting point.
  • 580–600 class: 8S is our preferred starting point.
  • 700 class: 12S is our preferred starting point, paired with an appropriately sized motor.

These are general battery-system guidelines, not a compatibility list for the 4030EC. Select motor size separately to suit the helicopter and intended performance. Experienced users may choose other combinations to achieve a specific result.

The RS5 Ultra and Nimbus 550 V2 recommendations above apply specifically to 1050Kv and 1150Kv on 6S.

How to Use These Head-Speed Estimates

All model-specific figures above use 6S at 3.8V per cell and 80% ESC output, following Egodrift’s calculator guidance. They are calculated reference speeds, not guaranteed governed RPM or maximum permitted operating speeds.

Actual results depend on battery voltage under load, governor behavior, blade selection, and flying style. Confirm governor headroom through setup and telemetry. Our larger-pinion preference is a gearing recommendation, not a measured efficiency guarantee.

Installation & Replacement Parts

OMP M5 Compatibility: The Tengu 4030EC Eclipse is too large to fit under the OMP M5’s standard canopy without interference. Use a 4025-size motor, the largest size that fits without contacting the canopy.

Confirm motor-body clearance, mounting-hole alignment, screw length, and pinion positioning before installation. Where a shaft-support bearing is fitted, verify correct engagement and alignment.

For servicing the 6 × 32 mm version, use the Egodrift 4030EC Eclipse Shaft & Bearing Kit — EGO-11972. This kit does not fit the earlier Beta 4030HT motor generation.

Motor & Gearing Setup Support

Explore different motor windings and pinions before ordering. Egodrift’s Headspeed Calculator lets you compare battery cell count, motor Kv, main gear, pinion, and ESC output for your setup.

Egodrift recommends calculating at 3.8V per cell and aiming for approximately 80% ESC output as a starting point for governor headroom.
