Egodrift Tengu 4230EC Eclipse Helicopter Motor

Build your 580–600 class power system around the Egodrift Tengu 4230EC Eclipse. Its custom 42 × 30 mm stator platform offers a larger-motor alternative to 4025 and 4030 designs for performance-focused helicopter builds.

Choose from 520Kv, 550Kv, 800Kv, and 1070Kv windings to match your battery configuration, gearing, and target head speed. Below, you’ll find setup guidance for the Goosky RS6, OMPHOBBY M6, and builders considering an alternative power system for the SAB ilGoblin 590.

Choose Your Motor Winding

  • 800Kv — EGO-11956 — 8S: Our preferred starting configuration for a performance 580–600 class build, with gearing selected for the intended rotor speed.
  • 1070Kv — EGO-11957 — 6S: An alternative for builders retaining a 6S power system. Match battery and ESC current capability to the intended load.
  • 520Kv — EGO-11954 — 12S: A lower-Kv option for advanced high-voltage builds with appropriate gearing and a suitably rated ESC.
  • 550Kv — EGO-11955 — 12S: Approximately 5.8% more theoretical motor speed than 520Kv at the same voltage and gearing, providing additional head-speed range.

These configurations are selection starting points. Choose the motor winding, battery, ESC, and gearing together to suit your model and intended performance.

Goosky RS6 Recommendations

Egodrift specifically identifies the Goosky RS6 as an application for the Tengu 4230EC Eclipse.

  • Our starting recommendation — 800Kv on 8S: Consider this combination when building an 8S performance power system for the RS6.
  • 6S alternative — 1070Kv: For builders choosing a single-pack 6S configuration, with motor gearing and current capability matched to the target rotor speed.
  • 12S alternatives — 520Kv or 550Kv: For advanced high-voltage builds. Select the winding and pinion together to achieve the required head speed.

Use the actual RS6 gear ratio when calculating rotor speed. Do not substitute the RS5 Ultra gearing figures. Confirm battery fitment, ESC voltage rating, mounting alignment, and shaft engagement.

OMPHOBBY M6 — 800Kv / 8S Gearing Guide

The M6 uses a 121T main gear, with 11T through 15T motor pinions available. For an 800Kv motor on 8S, these combinations provide useful head-speed reference points:

  • 13T — 9.308:1 reduction — approximately 2,090 RPM: A starting point for lower head-speed targets around 2,000–2,100 RPM.
  • 14T — 8.643:1 reduction — approximately 2,250 RPM: Our starting combination to consider for targets around 2,200 RPM.
  • 15T — 8.067:1 reduction — approximately 2,410 RPM: Additional speed range for higher-head-speed builds, subject to the helicopter and blade operating limits.

Confirm clearance for the 52.5 mm motor body, canopy clearance, mounting-hole alignment, and pinion engagement before selecting the 4230EC for your M6. Available gearing does not by itself establish complete physical compatibility.

SAB ilGoblin 590 — Alternative Motor Planning

SAB’s published starting configurations specify a 4025-size motor around 1100Kv on 6S or 560Kv on 12S. The 4230EC is a larger-motor alternative requiring a separate physical-fitment check.

  • 6S candidate — 1070Kv: The closest winding offered here to SAB’s published approximately 1100Kv 6S starting point.
  • 12S candidate — 550Kv: The closest winding offered here to SAB’s published approximately 560Kv 12S starting point.
  • 8S candidate — 800Kv: An alternative for experienced builders planning a custom 8S configuration with suitable motor-pulley selection.

These are winding-selection candidates, not confirmation of direct fitment. Verify motor clearance, mounting pattern, shaft engagement, belt alignment, and the complete transmission ratio before ordering.

For head-speed calculations, use the total motor-to-main-rotor reduction through both transmission stages.

Understanding the Head-Speed Estimates

The M6 estimates above use 8S at 3.8V per cell and 80% ESC output, following Egodrift’s calculator guidance. They are calculated reference speeds, not guaranteed governed RPM or maximum permitted operating speeds.

Actual results depend on battery voltage under load, governor behavior, blade selection, and flying style. Confirm governor headroom and operating temperatures during setup flights.

Specifications

  • Winding options: 520Kv, 550Kv, 800Kv, and 1070Kv
  • Primary application in this guide: Performance 580–600 class helicopters
  • Stator dimensions: 42 mm diameter × 30 mm height
  • Motor configuration: 12N10P — 10 magnetic poles
  • External shaft: 6 mm diameter × 36 mm length

Installation & Fitment

Confirm motor-body clearance, mounting-hole alignment, mounting-screw length, and correct pinion or pulley engagement. Where a motor-shaft support bearing is fitted, verify its engagement and alignment.

Match ESC voltage capability to the selected battery configuration. An ESC suitable for 6S or 8S operation is not automatically suitable for 12S.

Tengu or Scale Collection?

This listing is for the Tengu 4230EC Eclipse. The Scale Collection 4230EC Eclipse is listed separately with its own winding choices and scale-build guidance. Select the exact motor version and winding required for your application.

What’s Included

  • One Tengu 4230EC Eclipse motor in your selected winding
  • Three pairs of gold-plated Amass bullet connectors
  • Mounting screws — verify the correct length for your installation
  • Two Egodrift decal sheets
  • Certificate of Authenticity

Motor & Gearing Setup Support

Compare battery cell count, motor Kv, main gear, pinion, and ESC output using Egodrift’s Headspeed Calculator. For multi-stage drivetrains, enter the complete reduction ratio manually.

Egodrift recommends calculating at 3.8V per cell and aiming for approximately 80% ESC output as a starting point for governor headroom.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which configuration do you suggest for a new 580–600 class build?
Our starting preference is 800Kv on 8S, with gearing matched to your target head speed and the requirements of your model.

Can I retain a 6S power system?
Consider the 1070Kv winding with suitable gearing. Verify battery and ESC current capability for the intended load.

Which windings should I consider for 12S?
The 520Kv and 550Kv options, paired with appropriate gearing and a 12S-compatible ESC.

Is the 4230EC a confirmed direct fit for the ilGoblin 590?
Direct fitment has not been confirmed here. SAB specifies a 4025-size motor, so check the larger 4230EC’s dimensions against your installation before ordering.
