4730EC Eclipse — Motor & Pinion Recommendations
Choose your 540Kv or 570Kv winding together with a manufacturer-listed pinion for your helicopter. The recommendations below use 12S power.
Goosky RS7 Ultra — 116T Main Gear
Goosky lists a 13T standard motor pinion and an optional 12T pinion for the RS7 Ultra. These provide main reduction ratios of 8.923:1 and 9.667:1, respectively.
12T Optional Pinion — Lower Head Speed
- 540Kv / 12T — approximately 2,040 RPM: Our starting combination for a target near 2,000 RPM.
- 570Kv / 12T — approximately 2,150 RPM: A lower-geared option for targets around 2,100–2,150 RPM.
13T Standard Pinion — Higher Head Speed
- 540Kv / 13T — approximately 2,210 RPM: Our preferred starting combination for a target near 2,200 RPM using the stock pinion.
- 570Kv / 13T — approximately 2,330 RPM: Our higher-head-speed option for experienced pilots targeting approximately 2,300 RPM, subject to blade and airframe operating limits.
XLPower Stratos 700 — 125T Main Gear
The Stratos 700 motor-pinion choices covered here are the manufacturer-specified 12T and 14T options. These provide main reduction ratios of 10.417:1 and 8.929:1, respectively.
12T Pinion — Lower Head Speed
- 540Kv / 12T — approximately 1,890 RPM: Our starting combination for targets around 1,800–1,900 RPM.
- 570Kv / 12T — approximately 2,000 RPM: Our starting combination for a target near 2,000 RPM.
14T Pinion — Higher Head Speed
- 540Kv / 14T — approximately 2,210 RPM: Our preferred starting combination for a target near 2,200 RPM, pairing the lower-Kv winding with the larger available pinion.
- 570Kv / 14T — approximately 2,330 RPM: Our higher-head-speed option for experienced pilots targeting approximately 2,300 RPM, subject to blade and airframe operating limits.
Calculation Basis & Setup
All estimates use 12S at 3.8V per cell and 80% ESC output, following Egodrift’s calculator guidance. They are calculated reference speeds, not guaranteed governed RPM or maximum permitted operating speeds.
Actual results depend on battery voltage under load, governor behavior, blades, and flight load. Confirm governor headroom, operating temperatures, motor clearance, and pinion engagement during installation and setup. Pinions are sold separately from the motor.
Calculate Your Own Setup
Compare motor Kv, battery cell count, gearing, and ESC output using Egodrift’s Headspeed Calculator.
